Saturn Conjunct South Node and Depression

Hi All,
I wanted an EA perspective of how to help people who have Saturn conjunct their South Node.
I have been studying charts, and have had friends with this signature and wanted to ask how to help them, as it is very prominent.
Since I will not post their charts here I wanted to, if it is okay, bring up two well-known people who have this, and ask what, as an EA student what to tell them?
Neal Brennan- a prominent comedian who was partners with Dave Chapelle, and has a history of depression so much so that he has tried Ketamine as a therapeutic remedy for his depression.
Dr. Jordan Peterson- a clinical psychologist, from Canada, who has been the voice of free speech and non-conformity in his public life, who just recently had to enter into rehab due to his use of anxiety medicine, due to his wife on the verge of death.
Both have Saturn conjunct their South Node. I wanted to ask how can an EA astrologer can assist them, help them, or what can be said to these types of people who have grown into full adulthood and consistently been pestered by their very real depression?

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated. These are just two public figures I thought were relevant, but the bigger question of how to help anybody with this signature is tough for me.
Thank you for any help with this.

Hi Oliver,

To help anyone with depression is to help them understand the causes of that depression. This requires from an EA point of view an understanding of the whole birth chart: not just one symbol like Saturn conjunct the S.Node. There can of course be many possible causes for depression which is why an understanding of the evolutionary journey of any given Soul is essential in order to help. In EA that starts with an understanding of the core EA paradigm that exists in all birth charts, and then how all the other symbols in the birth chart including Saturn conjunct a S.Node contribute to that core paradigm.

God Bless, Rad

Hi Oliver,

I used to think depression correlated with Saturn too, but I was corrected that the phenomena of depression actually has its root in Neptune/Pisces/12th house (Note: this is incorrect..it is indeed Saturn..apologies!.  The function within depression is to induce self-reflection..to reflect on why our lives are the way they are..what we have done or not done to create the circumstances in our life, leading to self-knowledge.  This can for some be a very long road depending on individual context and circumstance, and the internalization this process can entail can seem to amplify one's experience of depression, because there is so much reflection on what has caused difficult circumstances in our lives.  The whole point of that reflection upon those depressed or regretful feelings is that it reveals what needs to change. It beckons self-responsibility and self-determination against all odds.  It all leads to self-knowledge (if one does the work) which can then be translated into active application of the methods or pursuits that have been missing or off-target.  With persistent effort, great rewards and relief will inevitably come.  I hope this answers at least a portion of your question.

Oops, sorry, Rad replied while I was typing

Hi Oliver,

just wish to add something on the side of the question you posed that i think can be helpful for the symbol of Saturn conjunct SN, not specifically to the natal chart but taken the current transit, considering one of the examples you used and the overall symptoms of depression that can be experienced socially and collectively nowadays. My apologies if it goes very far from subject but owing to the nature of my lilith in capricorn i feel compelled to write a bit.
I don't wish to comment on the personal aspects, but relative to Jordan Peterson and for people who have been hearing of his public work, a work with increasing power on what could be called the shaping of a certain branch of collective thinking, it is important in my opinion to focus on the content of his speech rather than the advocation of the freedom for it, as nowadays freedom of speech has become a very diffused concept as to its real purpose and the ones who do in fact need the freedom to speak are rarely the ones who now are advocating for the right of it (and it's interesting to note how speech and introspection needed for that speech are also becoming distorted in timing and as a social symptom). That to say, looking critically at Peterson speech he is in fact a symbol of disturbing content like the one of toxic masculinity (there are many authors dedicated to show how this is done, for anyone interested try searching Emily Pothast, to give one example).
Adding that to Saturn conjunct Sn in this particular case makes me think his rise to fame is not in any way disconnected to current transits of Saturn to its nodes and Pluto nodes, the need for the collective to keep justificating its attachment to the past, and is actually a very interesting symbol to connect, only in a way of collective atmosphere, to the root of collective delusion and consequent overall sense of depression.
I do agree with Stacie that Neptune helps us get to the root of it, considering polarity point of Capricorn is Cancer, and Neptune in the water trine can serve as compensation to avoid the emotions that could facilitate the process of self-reflection and self-knowledge if only we could reach there, as any addictions can unfortunately prevent to. This example of Peterson is again very curious in this matter because he actually has made a case for his on cause in a babylonian myth called the Enuma Elish, which in general focuses on the Great Mother as a source of chaos that needs to be tamed and controlled by a male God, a myth representing in fact the shift from matriarchal to patriarchal times. So we can see how far the Neptunian deception can reach and stand in the way of the soul knowing in fact the roots of its own discontent, not that i am saying this to his case in particular but as a possible symbol and how society chooses them. For those interested in myth and the undistorted approach to this one in particular, here is a good source https://www.europaindigena.com/2ª-el-neol%C3%ADtico/iv-the-origins-of-war-and-patriarchy/classical-mythology-as-a-system-of-patriarchal-indoctrination/.

And since Spirit always puts the antidote next to the poison just wish to leave two examples i was synchronistically contemplating in the last days of souls helping others dealing with Saturnian themes like depression from a place of having been and coming out of there.
One is the case of british author and mental health social worker JJ Bola who is doing work specifically directed to address this cases with young people, his published work can be found on The Guardian.
Other is the former president of Uruguay, Pepe Mujica, whose life is the object of the new Kusturica documentary and a balm to our souls, at least to mine. At one point he explains how the most significant part of his life in shaping who he is, was the decade he spent alone incarcerated as a political prisioner and how the reflection helped him get to the truth of its own soul and from there how we came to help others and a whole nation i would add. In his own words he says of this time "a veces lo malo es bueno y lo bueno es malo". Interestingly Mujica has 1st house pluto conjunct south node in Cancer, north node ruler is saturn in pisces in the 8th house.

Hope this could be helpful in someway,
Helena

Helena, how precious of you to read my words as "˜Neptune helping to root out depression'.  Haha ❤️  No I actually made an error.  I keep confusing in my brain that the root correlation of depression is Neptune.  My brain scrambles sometimes 😉.  I do have some further insights to share about the dynamics of depression, but I'll come back later for that.

PS I could hear Lilith in your voice.  Beautiful.

Hi Stacie,

Oh i see i added to the confusion! Even though i do think there are some mistakes worth exploring  :) Looking forward to any insights you might want to share.
