question about aspects

Hi All,

I have a question about aspects that I believe has been asked on this board but I don't even know where to begin to look it up so I would like to ask it here.  The question is, if one is looking at an aspect and wanting to understand what and where the original conjunction was, do you simply look to the trailing planet and assume that to be the point of conjunction, or do you look to when/where the planets were ACTUALLY conjunct and use that conjunction?  And if the latter, do you consider that conjunction to have occurred within the house structure of the natal chart being looked at?  This question arises out of the JWG material on septiles in which he says that fate intervenes to bring the focus back to the original conjunction of the 2 planets.... Wanting to understand where to look for that original conjunction.

Thanks!
Ellen

Hi Ellen

What you are referring to is the cycle of phases and aspects.  The seed point of intention of a new cycle is always at the original conjunction. Thus you go back to the most recent conjunction of the two planets prior to the current septile, the moment at which their relationship became new phase.    That is the seed point of the upcoming cycle -very much like the New Moon (which is the monthly conjunction of Sun and Moon) where we are told one plants (or realizes) the intentions of the upcoming month.  The septile is just a bit after half way between the New Moon/Phase and the First Quarter Moon/Phase.  Thus it is referencing back to the New Moon/moment of conjunction.

I would change the phrasing just a little from
"fate intervenes to bring the focus back to the original conjunction of the 2 planets."
to "fate intervenes to bring the focus back to the original INTENTION of the conjunction of the 2 planets."

What this means is we all get pulled off track in Earth reality.  The septile represents fated events intended to realign us to the original intention/purpose of the new phase between those two planets, as indicated by the house and sign of the conjunction, the aspects made to other planets, and the meaning of those  planets in relation to the natal evolutionary signature - pluto and polarity, nodes, rulers of nodes.

For a relevant current example, the essence of the 1960's was the conjunction of Pluto and Uranus in 1965.  Life has been all over the place since then.  Now with Uranus increasingly squaring Pluto it is going to pull us back to the evolutionary intent released in 1965 at the point of the original conjunction.  Life's intentions will be to eliminate everything that has gotten in the way.  The degree to which people open to that intention will determine the outer results that occur.

Thank you, Steve!  Very, very clarifying.  (Had posted a question but removed it as I feel I understand it...)

Thanks!
