Title: Sabian Symbols
Post by: cat777 on Nov 16, 2011, 05:43 PM
Not so much a question, but something I am pondering on...  In an old thread, which suggested I start a new topic instead of replying to it, Rad said:

QuoteOne of the great astrologers of all time, Dane Rudhyar wrote a book on the specific meanings for each degree, in each sign called the Sabian Symbols. In this book Rudhyar creates metaphorical meanings for all the degrees within the all the signs in the Zodiac.

I was searching the board for Sabian Symbols wondering if anyone uses them much in EA.  A few months ago I was chatting about reincarnation with a friend and asked her if there was a certain time period which resonated with her in regard to her possible past lives.  She said she feels like she lived in France somewhat around Marie Antoinette's time, but not exactly Marie Antoinette's time.

About two weeks ago I showed her her chart and was sort of explaining how things work.  When we got to her North Node I commented about it being conjunct my Moon which is at 3 Degrees Gemini.  Later that evening, something compelled me to look the 3 degrees Gemini Sabian Symbol up.

QuoteGemini 3
Sabian Symbol: An etching of rare beauty displays a charming vista of court life at the garden of the Tuileries under Louis XIV.

That was sort of a "wow" moment for me.  I have a hard time believing in coincidence.  :-)

Ever since that moment, my mind keeps wandering back to it.  I find myself looking at my chart wondering if I spent some time in France during that time period.  My SN is only a few degrees away from my moon.

I try to keep away from it as I am trying to focus on learning how to interprete an entire chart properly before diving into anything personal - like my own chart,  but, it keeps beckoning me.  I was thinking about my skipped step the other day because some "daily forcast" arrived in my email alerting me that transiting Mars is conjuncting my Pluto.  Red alert - T-Square activation  :-)
- Pluto in the 10th  square the SN in Taurus conjunct the Moon in Gemini in the 7th opposite the NN in Scorpio conjunct Saturn in Sag in the 1st.

I found myself googling around for different ideas to think about in regard to the Saturn part and the first one I read said:

QuoteYou are an old soul, someone who, in prior lives, has had responsibility for the welfare of many others. Through your actions or the actions of others, you saw those in your charge suffer.
...THIS PLACEMENT OF SATURN INDICATES THAT PAST LIFE REGRESSION IS NEEDED."

So again, I have a hard time believing in coincidences, so now I'm wondering if I should heed that advice (in caps - which are not my caps but belong to whoever wrote that bit).   Or maybe I should seriously consider doing my chart?  I feel like something led me back to EA but I'm not really sure why.  Now that Mars is activating my Pluto and a skipped step is involved, I'm wondering if it all has to do with a need to focus on trying to work on resolving it now??? Maybe I have been trying to skip by it again?

I have alot of Pisces archetype in my chart, so part of me thinks I'm just letting my imagination do its thing, or I'm being delusional.  But honestly, I really think something is trying to make me aware of something I need to know.  Sometimes I let myself flow with it and other times I think maybe I should consult someone else (because of the Pisces thing).

Ok, so I started asking if anyone integrates Sabian Symbols into their Ea work and went down another road contemplating on the keyboard  :-)  I hope you don't mind, but I can't really talk about this with anyone I know as they think I'm "out there."  :-)

But, Sabian symbols anyone?

Hi astroguru,

Thanks for those links!  I especially like the story about how it all began.  Fascinating.  I used to have some of the books pictured on the side of the page on the Khaldea site.  Now I wish I still did  :-)  But what a site to explore!  Thanks for posting!

Hi Cat,

I, and my small group of bloggers, have been following the Sabian Symbols for Pluto's transit through Capricorn which has been very insightful since we all share planets in early degrees Capricorn, and my Venus happens to be between 3-4 deg Cap.

On that psychic level, the Sabians really do provide a deeper level of information, if you are willing to see the truth that they are prompting through the connections you are making.  I think they suit more "watery" type people, so with your North Node in Scorpio (me too) they would be helpful and interesting.

Cheers,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Interesting that you are following the Sabian Symbols for Pluto's journey through Capricorn.  Do you have a blog????  Wondering why you think they suit more "watery" type people.  just curious  :-)  Have they been helping you with the Plu over Venus?

Hi Cat,

Yes, the Sabians have been very helpful.  In a few tricky situations, during the Pluto transit on my Venus, of course dark elements were popping up everywhere (corresponding to the releasing and cleansing of aspects of my unconscious), and the Sabians provided that extra bit of information that would shed light, or confirm feelings and promptings about a situation.  There is something quite definite about the statements of the Sabians that beckons one to consider them.  Watery people at least would be willing to take that journey into their own psyche, via the use of their imagination, and to make synchronistic connections.

T-Pluto conj my Venus, 3 hits, 2009-2010, coincided with joining various blogs/forums (this messageboard included):

03°Cap00' - 03°Cap59'      A PARTY ENTERING A LARGE CANOE
To embark on a journey with a number of people is to embark on an emotional discovery. With co-operation, there can be great success. You may also find this to be a time when disparate aspects of your persona come together to explore an emotional situation. Co-operation. People coming together with a shared goal in sight. If negative - uncoordinated energies. Not wanting to go along with anybody.

This year transiting Pluto has been moving through:

05°Cap00' - 05°Cap59'      A DARK ARCHWAY AND TEN LOGS AT THE BOTTOM
You may feel that there is a difficult and mysterious time to come and you need to prepare. This marks a time to make these preparations and create the safeguards before continuing into the unknown. You are on an important journey, one of destiny, but you won't know for a while what this journey is leading to. See this as an opportunity for further growth. Preparation. If negative - fear of the unknown. Being afraid to make a move.

06°Cap00' - 06°Cap59'      A VEILED PROPHET OF POWER
Information or knowledge is coming through, and it is difficult to know whether to trust it. Look carefully for the signs - is it truth that you are being fed?  This energy can be used for the good of all involved, or it can just lead people astray. Hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion. If negative - conscious manipulation.

07°Cap00' - 07°Cap59'      BIRDS IN THE HOUSE SINGING HAPPILY
You may feel a sense of uncomplicated contentment at this time. Even though there are a number of social rules to obey, that doesn't bother you. This is a time for sharing good feelings and happiness with all who enter your sphere of operations. Being at one with everything. If negative - idle chatter. A smug superiority and a feeling that one has it all.

Hi Linda,

Very deep stuff for sure.  Especially 3, 5 and 6.

The Ea path makes perfect sense here to me.  I get your point about watery people.  So true.

I'd love to to take you up on the invite.  Please send me a link via "messages."

Thanks for sharing all of that.  What source are you quoting from?  Have you applied the Sabian Symbols to your P-SN-SR  PPP-NN-NR etc?  I bet that can be insightful.  I may try that tomorrow!

Thanks again and good night for now

Hi All-I have been using the sabian symbols for every chart read for the past 12 years...I came across them and they felt so true to me and indeed have given me much insight into my client's charts as well as my own.  My favorite reference is the classic by Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala.  My students also appreciate this reference book.  I general stick to, for simplification purposes, the asc, mh, desc and nadir as well as the sun.  Many clients have teared up when I read them their sun reference, for they recognize it.  It helps to open them up right then and there...

thanks for the question, imsara

Imsara,

Thanks for reminding me about this by posting.  I put mine together in EA format and looking at the past - wow!  Except for the Ouija Board part, it kind of all fits together.  Maybe the Ouija does too.  I will have to look its history up.

It definitely sparks my imagination  :-)
