Title: Nodes of Mars
Post by: Louie on Oct 13, 2011, 10:14 AM
I have a question on the nodes of Mars and their annual movement through certain sections of the zodiac. In studying the movement of the North Node of Mars it seems to ping back and forth from about 8 degrees of Aries to around the first degree of Cancer. The South Node of Mars seems to ping back and forth from about 9 degrees of Libra to the last degree of Sagittarius.

What is the significance of these movements? How are we to measure the phasal relationships to other bodies when these things dont seem to be moving in any continual direction? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Louie,

Great question,
Here are some thoughts

It is true that the actual position of the "nodes of mars" do move very very slowly.
Here, in this thread post, Rad outlined this larger cycle:

All the planetary nodes of planets orbiting outside/farther from sun than earth - mars, jupiter, saturn, etc. all have the swing pattern, less and less so the father out, naturally.
So, the planetary nodes of Mars still do have a central axis which moves very slowly.  This is found when the nodes of mars are in conjunction/opposition with the sun.

From this perspective, the planets would be the "separating" body from all planetary nodes which are outside of earth's orbit.  Or, the starting point would be the node, like the sun always is the starting point.

When I take my own Mars and use the sn mars as starting point for phase, the phase that this gives me does resonate with the meaning of the relationship past life and present life desires.

When it comes to say pluto in relation to sn mars, my sense is still to use the sn mars as starting point.  This resonates when i put this in phase in my own chart.

That said, I too have not correlated and observed this enough to be in full authority of this.

Hope these pieces are helpful and look forward to more

Hi Louie,

There has been an extensive discussion on the planetary nodes, including the nodes of Mars, awhile back. Here is the link to two threads that will answer you questions.

Thank you Bradley and Rad for taking the time to respond to my post. Libra, Scorpio, and Sag seem to be a focal point of the Zodiac in so many different ways for so many different people. I find it interesting that many people on the planet have natal Uranus,Neptune, and Pluto somewhere in those three signs that may be interacting directly with the South Node of Mars. The fact that Saturn is now transiting this same area seems to add to the "seriousness" of the lessons to be learned. I tried looking at the future Uranus/Saturn oppositions but my software would not allow me to look that far ahead......my guess is that we are going to see the future oppositions of Uranus and Saturn progress through these same signs?

Hi Louie,

We had a recent Saturn/Uranus opposition in Pisces/Virgo on 2/7/09. The next conjunction of these two will be at 28 Gemini on 06/28/2032. If you are running Solar Fire it has a great ephemeris generator.
