I have a chart, it is Mars Pluto conjunction new which squares the nodes.
The question:
If this is a new series of lifetimes playing out this evolutionary intention of the Pluto Virgo 7th(Mars new phase conjunction), would the square to the nodes be symbolic of a soul dynamic which was already playing out relative to all relationships....and is now put into a new context relative to the new evolutionary intention within relationships?

The new phase conjunction of Mars and Pluto does reflect that this is a primary life (a life wherein the core evolutionary dynamics within the chart are being directly worked on/confronted). The new phase conjunction reflects that a brand new evolutionary cycle is beginning, and the the evolutionary intentions/impulse reflected by Mars/Pluto is brand new. The skipped step symbolized by the Pluto/Mars square to the nodal axis reflect that prior relationship patterns pertaining to the evolutionary past must be resolved in order for this new evolutionary cycle to be put into motion. In other words, the new cycle will require a necessary resolution of the skipped steps occur in the areas/dynamics symbolized by Mars/Pluto and the nodal axis. As you said, new relationship patterns can then manifest as this resolution occurs which is a core evolutionary intention for his life.

So, just to say it back to make sure I got it:
A new phase mars pluto conjunction kicks off an entirely new evolutionary intention.
When we see this conjunction squaring the nodes, there are unresolved issues pertaining to the south node which must be resolved before the desired new cycle will progress.
So, if this is true, this is the only situation in which the pluto square to the nodes does not tie in the south node as what facilitated the soul desires symbolized by pluto - because the current pluto is a new cycle which has just begun in the current lifetime.
Do I have this correct?

Hi Bradley. The specific nature of the new cycle that has just begun for the individual who has a Mars/Pluto new phase conjunction is symbolized by the South Node and it's planetary ruler. The evolutionary intentions, as in all other charts, is reflected by Pluto's polarity point, the north node, it's planetary ruler.
In the the example you gave where Pluto/Mars new phase squares the nodes you are correct-issues pertaining to the evolutionary past (South node and it's ruler) must be resolved in order for the intended new cycle to begin. The new phase, in this case, will manifest as the individual makes the neccessary efforts to resolve these issues, and deals with these unresolved issues in a "new way". (Remember, though that skipped steps reflect unresolved issues/dynamics within both the areas indicated by the North and South Nodes). Hope this helps!

This is not the only situation in which the Pluto square to the nodes does not tie in the south node as what facilitated the soul desires symbolized by Pluto. Simply, the south node HAS been the facilitator AND this life represents a new orientation to resolve the evolutionary impulse of the soul by way of conscious desire, emphasizing greatly the potential to go get on with it in a completely new way or to generate more desires to resist evolution. I think the key to understand is that Mars Pluto new phase doesn't mean there is no past, it means the new cycle is beginning. The past of the soul can be understood as the last cycle has recently culminated (absolute new phase conjunction), or the new cycle has begun in very recent lives. That new phase can still be read in the context of a square to the nodes, just like it can be read in the context of a trine/sextile to the nodes. Same principal for when Pluto is conjunct the AC and squaring the nodes for example.
