Hi All,
I'm wondering if anyone can answer this question... I'm looking at a chart that has:
1)transiting Mars coming up on a conjunction to natal Chiron (in the 3rd, conjunct the 4th house cusp).
2)transiting Venus/Neptune/Chiron are conjuncting the 3rd house cusp.
3)transiting Saturn (in the 10th) is sesquiquad the Venus/Neptune/Chiron conjunction.
4)transiting Uranus is still a little off but moving towards natal Saturn in the 4th.
My feeling is that this person is in the individuated state. She has had some experience with her issues, etc., so she is in a more wisened place in her life. There is someone she is interested in and she is hopeful that it will work out.
My question is, is it possible to tell in advance if a transit to Chiron will be a healing experience or a wounding one? And if so, how can you tell that?

No. As you know Ellen all depends on the choices one makes. If this person that you are asking about has done her inner work prior to this point in time, an inner work that has allowed her to become aware of the dynamics that have caused the previous wounding relative to the natal Chiron, and then applies that awareness to a new intimate possibility then these sorts of transits can in fact correlate to a healing of those wounds relative to the person who has now come into her life. If not, then of course these same transits can create a scenario in which those preexisting wounds manifest in even deeper ways relative to the new person coming into her life. If so, the intention of course is to create a circumstance in which those preexisting wounds are finally addressed.

Thank you. Of course that makes PERFECT sense! One thing I struggle with is how to talk about this sort of thing with a person when they ask such a question. I am wondering if you could give an idea of how you might respond to such a question if someone were to ask you....

I agree with Rad, that a Chiron transit will manifest based on prior choices and advances one has made. Of course usually it is a mix, in the wounding experience comes opportunity for healing, in the healing experience comes some relinquishing, acquiescing, or bittersweet recognition - it is a homeopathic experience.

Well first I would be talking to them about the nature of the wounds as symbolized in the natal chart/ Chiron. Why they came about and why: the dynamics involved. Then I would ask them if they were aware of all that, and, if so, if they had already made some choices that correlated to addressing those dynamics so that the wounds would not repeat themselves. This of course would include being able to be aware when those old dynamics were being stimulated relative to the nature of a new person/ attraction coming into their life. And, if so, being able to talk about those wounds/ dynamics with the new person in such a way as to objectively gauge whether that new person, by way of their own responses, was coming into the life to help heal those old wounds and/ or if that person has come into their life to recreate those wounds so that they could finally be addressed. So I would be sharing with the client this type of information and empowering them to be able to know what is what.

Thank you. This is very, very helpful, especially the perspective of helping to empower them through the information you share. I think because of all of my hiding signatures and experiences in my family where it was imperative that I not "see" or certainly not share what I might be "seeing", it presents itself as fear when I am looking at a chart for someone. And I think I brace for negative repercussions and so that bracing itself prevents me from really being able to share in an empowering way. This dynamic has really just paralyzed me so thank you for responding to my request as it is helping me to sort of see through that fear some.

That's a great insight you have upon yourself. So doing charts, as well as other situations, will certainly provide for an opportunity to work through those fears. You will find by sharing information in this way with clients, which is to empower them, will certainly provide an opportunity for them to give you the healing feedback that your Soul can benefit by.
