Title: how to determine phases between a natal planet and moon nodes
Post by: Sam on Mar 26, 2022, 07:36 AM
I'm trying to apply the concept of the 8 phases to use in interpreting aspects between planets in the natal chart.
However I'm a bit mystified by how to apply this to the moon nodes.

1.like do the phases apply such as new, crescent, 1st quarter etc. between a natal planet and moon node?

2.For example can a planet be in balsamic phase to the SN and full phase to the NN etc?
a.How does one determine that--if a planet is aspected to the SN which is the reference point?
b. what is the reference point when the node aspected by a calculated point such as a Part of fortune or midpoint in a natal chart?

3.Because the motion of the nodes is reverse of the planets--what happens when the planets and nodes are both reverse--same question--how does one determine the reference point?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

Yes..

*********

(a)The reference point is based on the mean motion of any two points wherein the slower moving of the two is then the reference point. Relative to the Nodes whose mean motion is retrograde the reference point of them and another planet is still calculated relative to the slower moving of the two. In your question about if a planet were in a balsamic phase to the S.Node it would then be in a Gibbous Phase to the N.Node.

(b) The Nodes in EA are not used to calculate a phase to things like the Part of Fortune or midpoints.

3.Because the motion of the nodes is reverse of the planets--what happens when the planets and nodes are both reverse--same question--how does one determine the reference point?

********

The mean motion of all the planets in not retrograde or reverse. Thus, the reference point to any retrograde planet is still the slower moving of such planets relative to the Lunar Nodes.
