skipped steps question again - it's like it's all deja vu!
I have resisted asking this question, or I should say trying to get a perspective - I come to a general idea I am happy with: but this is the third time I'd say I've been thinking about this...
It's the question of a rule of thumb when helping someone to 'resolve' the skipped step: there is the rule of thumb, so to speak, that shows the skipped step, and all the other hallmarks in EA that show very definitive issues: but this idea of HOW the skipped step is revealed & recovered remains a little confusing to me. And then, it's confusing enough to have skipped steps that I'm hoping for some general 'rule'.....
Alright: so, this keeps coming up for me when reading/hearing in lectures etc. about JWG's chart....
His skipped step is Moon/4th/Pisces resolving toward a SN/1st/Sag: he wanted to become a monk.....
Going to try to be real simple here: one can see that desire in the symbols themselves so clearly.....here's the rub for me: I can see an astrologer seeing his moon - the security in God, the need for like minded community, evolving his soul within that (moon placement, neptune ruling, venus 1st scorpio), the desire to be
alone (1st) in a monastery (sag, jupiter 12th scorpio) - so, this astrologer just might say YES - this is a skipped step: this is what you want: go for it! OK, so we know that's not right.......
My question is: how can we know that?
My tentative answer when I try to answer myself (which is why I'm asking here!!) - is that the resolution node, whether it is NN or SN, will show where we developed that to A FAULT - it's become extreme as a response to other extreme (the other node) actions: so therefore the 'flip-flop'.....it's not about it being baby out with the bath water as much as recovering what is positive about the resolution node - and the ACTION required will be the placement of the planet that is squaring....
SO: with JWG - to be very simple here: in order to evolve he needed to, for lack of better words, test or USE his own knowledge(sag) and developed individuality (sag, Jupiter in Scorpio, 12th - so this individuality is deeply rooted in Source) to go forth, to be with others (instead of a monastery) - the ACTION was shown by the Moon: by having a family, by deeply emotionally connecting, nurturing & using his compassion 'in the world' of his family versus on his own in a monastery....and in this way he integrated that which he had rejected which is ALSO symbolized by the squaring planet...
I am hoping that this is a general rule: to paraphrase: the resolution node has been developed to 'a fault', needs to be not turned on its head, but turned @ a bit toward what is positive in it's symbols: the ACTION needed will be shown by the squaring planet, and the squaring planet are the functions/needs that require integration....?
Sorry if it's felt this is what is already being taught - guess it's gone over my head if so - but, each time I see/read etc. @ JWG's skipped steps I keep thinking how those symbols show so clearly his DESIRE to be that monk - though we know it wasn't what would further his evolution the best....every time I keep wondering HOW we, as astrologer can know that path would only be continuing the issue instead of resolving it...
Thanks so much
Hi Nerissa,
First, skipped steps are symbolized by a planet(s) squaring the Lunar Nodal Axis. It is not correct to say that either node has 'been developed to a fault'. The nature of the skipped steps means the Soul has been going back and forth relative to the house and sign of the Nodal Axis, and the planet that is squaring those Nodes: skipped steps.
In other words, the Soul have been developing both Nodes relative to the planet squaring those Nodes without either Node being developed fully: skipped steps. The Soul has been flip-flopping back and forth between both Nodes relative to the planet(s) squaring those Nodes.
The evolutionary intention is to recover those skipped steps. The location of the planetary ruler of each Lunar Node, by house, sign, and aspects to them all correlate to the dynamics within the Soul that have been the additional determinants, causes, of those skipped steps: the reasons for them.
The actual cause of the skipped steps is the location of the planet(s) that squares the Nodes relative to it's house and sign placement, and the aspects it is making to other planets. The location of it's own planetary ruler, by house, sign, and aspects to it correlate to the additional determinants of WHY the Soul has created those skipped steps for itself.
It is the EA symbolism, the signature of the skipped steps in EA and the person's actual life, that correlate to HOW WE CAN KNOW THAT.
The action that the Soul takes relative to those skipped steps is rooted in the natural law of free choice. Choices made or not made relative to the underlying evolutionary need to recover those skipped steps before the evolution of the Soul can take place.
In JWG's case the resolution is simply stated this way: instead of being a monk in an isolated environment to being a 'monk' in the context of relationships: the path of the householder.
God Bless, Rad
Hi,All,
Thanks Nerissa for asking the question,I am thinking of Yogananda's next incarnation birth chart:Venus,Mars, and Jupiter conjunct in Pisces 12th house square node axis,9th house Sagittarius SN,Gemini NN.In his next incarnation,Yogananda will isolate in Himalaya as a hermit, only with few disciples around.So,Rad,12th house skipped steps related to isolation?or all kinds of addictive action?JWG has many children(moon skipped step),I am shocked by the power of skipped steps.
I also want to ask ,as a Avatar, liberated soul, why Yogananda keep on in human form?
Namaste

Hi Kismine
For Yogananda the next life is the fulfillment of his desire to live in the Himalaya Mountains as a simple monk: resolution of the skipped step. He incarnates in human form, as others do that are like him, to help humans be liberated from their permeating delusions.
God Bless, Rad
Thanks,Rad.
Okay, thanks Rad
I think I'm understanding what you are saying.....
That you said @ JWG being a 'monk' in the path of the householder clicked for me....
his chart naturally shows all paths back to Source - no need to be a 'monk' per se....
though all of our paths naturally are back to Source though most are not conscious of that: but he was
I think I understand how the individual context is being played out here: and will be able to transmute the basic lessons when reading other charts: it's not the chart, but the soul....and within individual context & choice it will be clear
BTW want to apologize for my original post being sorta gobedleygook - or however you spell utter nonsense...I find skipped steps tough to put into words
I understand simply listening to the soul with these signatures will allow the pieces to fall into place: not thinking so hard about nothing
But: I've another question: I'll put up a new post though.....

Hi,Rad
What is his Divine mission as a hermit?I think that Avatar is a savior, must disseminate some teaching to mass.
thank you
Kismine
Hi Kismine,
Part of what he will be doing in that life will be assembling around him key Souls who have been part of his own evolutionary journey, very evolved Souls who have also desired and tried to help as many other Souls as possible in their own lives. Together they will operate like a radio station that broadcasts through time and space the thoughts that are needed at that time in Earth/ human her/history to help it rebalance itself relative to Natural Laws.
God Bless, Rad
Got it,thank you,Rad.
Hi,Rad,
Please check my understandings of Jeffrey's skipped step, for I am not sure how the skipped step planet manifest on a birth chart. He needs to share his soul knowledges with others(NN in Gemini 7th house ),but he is a natural loner, alienates to most people who have not live in a natural way, this generates emotional insecurity, confusion, confrontation, shock, trauma and disillusionment ( Moon in Pisces 4th house squaring nodel axis, with Mars conjuncting SN,Uranus conjuncting NN ).To recover the skipped step,he was born with a difficult childhood,no emotional security and nurture at all,I suppose that his astrology clients, family and children are reflect the similar emotion problems:need his caring and nurture,I also think that if he has not so many kids,he will not keep busy to his astrology readings and teachings (raising children needs much of money).to do that,he naturally set in motion his own evolutionary journey:sharing teaching and healing others.am I correct?
the birth chart of Fyodor Dostoevsky's:

Another case is Fyodor Dostoevsky's (a Russian novelist) Mercury skipped step:Mercury in Sagittarius 12th house, and Mercury is the ruler of SN which is in Virgo 8th house.interesting, like JWG,he also has Mars conjunct SN,yes,he had been almost going to death for rebellion government, and actually in a Mercury way:he has spreaded some informations of rebellion government, and been arrested, after Exempting from execution,he had been imprisoned in Siberia 4 years ( Mercury skipped step, and Mercury in 12th house).many years later, even though as a renowned novelist,he has to emigrate for devoiding debt(SN in 8th house):another type of imprisonment and isolation. He has Epilepsy,I think this is a hysteria, correlates to his Mercury 12th house skipped step.
An interesting question occurring on my mind:Mars and war.(maybe I should start with a new thread)
Why such an evolved soul like JWG had been involved with Vietnam War?William the conquer (Yogananda's past incarnation) and Joan of Ark also have engaged with war.all religions have similar commandments,i.e. not killing, but God creates death and war, what is natural killing, what killing has Karmic effect?I think this is a big topic,I am looking forward anyone sharing your insights.
Rad,if you know the life of Fyodor Dostoevsky, could you give any comments on his skipped step and evolutionary stage?
With gratitude
Kismine
Hi Kismine,
As I said to you before we are not talking about JWG in the way you keep asking about. I do not have time to look into Fyodor Dostoevsky either. This mb is not a place where anyone can just ask or analyze someone's birth chart unless it has been posted by one of the moderators for some reason.
The subject of skipped steps has been spoken too repeatedly on the mb. Simply type in the words 'skipped steps' in the search engine and that will bring up all the different discussions on it.
God Bless, Rad
Hi,Rad,
Thanks for your infinite patience,I am really sorry!
