Hi Rad,
Upasika drew my attention to a few inconsistencies in the EA Glossary regarding Orbs.
Could you please confirm the accuracy of the orbs used by JWG in the following Table especially the ones that are highlighted:
EA GENERAL ORBS
Aspect
Conjunction Opposition Inconjunct/Quincunx Quintile Sesquiquadrate Semi-sextile Semisquare Septile |
Degrees either side of exact (applying to, or separating from)
10 degrees 10 degrees 3 degrees 3 degrees 5 degrees 3 degrees 3 degrees 1 degree |
Aspect
Sextile Square Trine Bi-septile Novile Bi-quintile Tri-septile |
Degrees either side of exact (applying to, or separating from)
4 degrees 10 degrees 10 degrees 2 degrees 2 degrees 3 degrees 2 degrees
|
Rad's correction: Septile should be 3 degrees.
Do the above orbs also apply to Transits? Could you please provide that information.
Thanks,
Linda
Hi Linda,
All seems accurate accept the septile: this should be 3 degrees.
God Bless, Rad
Thank you, Rad.
Linda
Everyone,
Orbs used in EA for Transits
In general, the orbs used for the major aspects (trines, squares, conjunctions, oppositions) are 10 degrees (5 degrees prior to the exact aspect, and 5 degrees after the exact aspect). Inconjunctions have a 3 degree orb in the natal chart, and I use a about a 6 degree orb for inconjunctions (3 degrees prior and 3 degrees after the exact aspect). (Deva)
Thanks,
Linda

Hi Maya,
In a natal chart, 10 degrees before and 10 degrees after is right.
The 10 degree orb (before and after) applies only to these aspects: conjunction, opposition, square and trine.
See the Table above for other aspects and their orb degrees.
If you do not understand, please let me know, and I will clarify for you.
Thanks,
Linda
Hi Rad and all,
What about when Pluto and the North Node are in the same sign and house about 13 degrees apart? What I would like to know is the maximum orb in these cases as I am not sure whether the Pluto Polarity Point is to be considered or not in this case.
Thank you
All the best
Hi Skywalker,
JWG taught that ten degrees was the maximum for the conjunction.
God Bless, Rad
