Question Regarding Asteroid Usage

Hi,

I was just wondering what different people think in regard to using asteroids when reading a chart.  I know everyone is going to have a different opinion and there is no right or wrong answer  :-)  I tend to not use them very much.  I feel there is already so much information available using just the traditional planets, and they often just repeat themes that are already there, but in some cases it helps to take an asteroid or two into consideration. I also tend to pick which ones to look at depending on what kind chart I am looking at: natal, composite, synastry etc.  I'm just curious about what other EA astrologers tend to use - why and when.

Hi Cat777,

These few links to different threads may help you get started regarding asteroids and EA:

Also in EA they use many of the asteroids. The two main ones are 1.) obviously Chiron, and 2.) the asteroid Lucifer (#1930). I have seen many others used by EA astrologers, but definitely these two.

Hope this helps a little.

Lovingly,
Dhyana

I have added the correct link in the message above. At first I had repeated a link twice but now I have fixed that and all three links are different. I removed the message that I had that repeated link in and reopsted the one above.

Just an FYI

Hi Dhyana,

Thank you for taking the time to dig up those links and put them together in on place!  I agree that Chiron is an obvious one.  "Funny" you should mention Lucifier as I just read a very good article by JWG about that one earlier today.  That is a new one to me.  I found it to be rather fascinating to say the least.  I think I will start trying to use it.

After looking at the threads in the links you posted, a voice in my head said "You are just too lazy to want to bother."  Maybe its time to get over that  :-)

Hi Cat and Dhyana,

The asteroids can be involved in "skipped steps" (t-square with the Nodes).

The asteroids provide very deep insights into the Feminine (which had been suppressed by the patriarchal culture for thousands of years), as they allow us to "remember" our origins:  God'ess.

Try to catch Kristin Fontana's interviews with Demetra George:  just SO excellent!  The recent "Asteroids in Relationships" interview exploring VESTA was just amazing - and an absolute "must listen to" for those with emphasized Vesta in natal or composite charts.  http://www.healthylife.net/RadioShow/archiveGS.htm

Cheers,

Just want to say - Chiron is not an asteroid.  It is a cross between a planetoid and a comet.

All asteroids rotate around the Sun in an orbit between Mars and Jupiter and thus have solar years of a similar length, approx 4 Earth years.

Chiron has an irregular elliptical orbit and takes 50 years to travel around the Sun.  It is not an asteroid in any traditional definition of asteroid.

Ahhh!  Good to know. (Chiron is not an asteroid).

Thanks Steve.
