Moon squaring nodes

I've been thinking about this aspect quite a bit today.  Although it is a natal aspect in my chart I am also trying to understand this generally or actually specifically!  (moon square nodes)

I suppose I'm trying to understand the nature of having the present ego-consciousness in a skipped-step relative to the past & future development.  I admit I feel I have zero grasp of this.  For instance, if one has the current ego consciousness that is applying to the south node - you'd have the conscious aspect of this personality needing to 'revisit' or incorporate/use past modes of being in order to fulfill current life purposes which also include moving toward the future ego personality.  Now, if it is applying to the north node - well, then - ??  One needs to embrace that NNode - however, most people aren't even conscious of their current ego-hood - their desires, etc. are simply there 'like magic' they usually have no conception of what drives them - so, it's confusing to me to wonder how people, or certainly anyone not in the spiritual state (I think?) would go about integrating/becoming conscious of this aspect.  But, I have a feeling I'm not understanding whatsoever!  :)  Which is why I'm posting here!

I understand this aspect could correlate with gender issues/switching and family issues, perhaps ongoing life to life issues with the mother.  I was wondering if this could also correlate with a split personality or at the least dissociative behaviors - ?

In general, though, I suppose I'm trying to understand what one could say that would be general & specific about the nature of this - why there would be conflict & need of resolution between the ephemeral states of ego-hood.  I understand that evolutionary states would be key in understanding which dynamic is being activated - and perhaps Uranus would be key in understanding these issues.

Hope I'm being clear in what I don't understand!  I appreciate any insight - thanks!

(I'd think the phase of the moon would be very important, too.  In fact, aside from the general ideas of phasal aspects, what is the perspective of EA on the 'gates' of the Moon?)

Hi Lucius,

Were you able to resolve your question about moon skipped steps/NN resolution point for pre-spiritual state conditions based on the info in that other thread?  If not let us know..

The moon squaring nodes can be a relevant dynamic within a larger signature that would correlate to dissociative behavior, but of itself it doesn't.  There are many signatures that can correlate to dissociative behavior..too many to go through and list.  As a very general example of what could combine with a moon squaring nodes to equal this kind of signature, you could find stressful aspects to uranus..neptune..pluto..saturn, implicating key signs like gemini, pisces, aquarius"¦just to mention a few. But of course, it all depends on the individual chart signature as a whole

A moon squaring nodes of itself correlates more to a pattern where the ego (meaning one "I"/"me", not 2+ versions) oscillates between familiar emotional dynamics connecting with the soul's past, and new dynamics connecting to who the soul is becoming.  The ego goes back and forth, back and forth, not consistently integrating itself in either area.  The oscillation is driven by a cyclic intense desire to feel secure (generating gravity toward the south node--what's familiar), and the desire to grow beyond old dynamics, patterns, and ways that oneself has been known, into new ways that are sensed but not yet consolidated in self-imagery that allows the ego to feel self-consistent.

In a dissociative condition, the ego structure itself is in a condition of breaking down, dissolution, fragmentation, etc. for various reasons/causes, which implies a direct relationship to other functions in consciousness beyond the moon.  Hopefully I've explained the distinction clearly?

By gates of the moon are you referring to the 4 initiation points of new, 1st Q, full, and last Q phases in the lunar cycle?"¦or something else?

Hi Lucius,

And to add to what Stacie has said it's also important to look at the planetary rulers of each of those Nodes: their house and sign location, and the aspect that each are making to other planets. The ego, Moon, has been going back and forth in recent prior lifetimes between each of these archetypes without fully developing either. Thus, the Soul and the ego it manifests will typically feel within itself this push/ pull between these two archetypes: back and forth. The sense of personal identity and reality is switching back and forth, and, because of that, the affects of this to the emotional body of the individual. And one of those affects is what then constitutes security for the Soul.

Thank you for the additional comments Rad.  The explanation I gave of moon squaring nodes was extremely superficial in retrospect.  Really those words are describing more of a potential orientation one could have to the moon function itself..without the squares..which could then lead into skipped steps if the back and forth is sustained.  So thanks again for adding the depth that was needed.

Thanks Stacie & Rad - you both built upon what I gleaned from what Ari posted.  I've been thinking a lot about this aspect & dendrites are forming thanks to your input!  8)

My use of the word 'gates' was a subconscious reference to the gates Inanna crosses in her journey through the underworld - each conjunction with the moon is a chakra/gate.  At any rate - I was wondering if anyone in EA had looked further into the phases of the moon & it's relation to ego/emotional reality aside from the basic phase aspects we have.

Thanks again!

Rad

Hi Lucius,

Yes, JWG lectured on this many times. There is a transcript available that details the nature of the phases, the evolutionary gates defined by the aspects within phases, and what he called the 'key planetary pairs' which includes the Sun and Moon, and the Moon and Saturn. Feel free to ask more about any of this in this thread.

God Bless, Rad
