Hi All,

An important note that Rad pointed out that I wanted to remind everyone of, as this cannot be stressed enough, especially when working with clients who are experiencing relationship realities such as this, is that the Soul CHOOSES these dynamics for their own evolution.

The 4th house lessons can be the toughest of all as it relates to the Soul's inner personal reality and it can be easy to feel victimized when being thrown back upon oneself over and over, or ending up in relationships where whatever is going out is not coming back in equal measure, which is so commonly a result of a Venus 'expectation' that is not being met. Whenever expectation drives the giving, it will inevitably lead to a let down. "When we expect, we don't get."

Also in EA JWG teaches that we can only evolve through the emotional body initiated via the water trinity, Cancer(4th house), Scorpio, Pisces ~ so this root emotion must be cultivated thoroughly, which involves the inner side of Venus being developed, ones inner relationship to itself.

Hi All,

I would like to offer some further thoughts on the nature of skipped steps, and how it can manifest in people's lives.  One of the trickiest, and as a result, the most challenging turns one experiences when working through skipped steps is the feeling that the Soul has resolved what it has needed to, only to come to discover there are remaining remnants of more which is similar to pulling a weed out of the ground, and not getting all the way down to the bottom of its roots, it will undoubtedly return.

The Soul can be under the illusion that they are done, because in truth, the Soul may really desire to be done, but if there is anything left, it will keep repeating whether they want it to be done or not. It will always reveal the truth of where the Soul sits in this process. In other words, if the skipped steps are truly resolved the Soul will simply not create any further circumstances which reflect what those skipped steps have been about. If such circumstances continue to manifest, in one form or way after the other, then those skipped steps have not been resolved. This can be very, very tricky because of the previous dynamics within the Soul that have caused the skipped steps in the first place.

Also, almost inevitably, when any Soul experiences a quantum leap in their personal evolution, a true feeling of release from the hard past, there will be something on the heels of the good growth that tries to undermine the positive steps taken. This in itself becomes yet another challenge. While this occurs for all Souls whether one is dealing with skipped steps or not, this experience can be particularly intense for someone with this signature because the groove in the record of resistance can be so deep, and the tendency to fall back on old patterns can be so tempting and fierce. Self determination will be essential and must become the Soul's front line of attack, especially when the Soul feels like forward steps taken may feel to be lost. It is in those moments when the Soul turns and faces the TRUTH of what it needs, with the inner gates wide open, that an acceleration of the Soul's evolution can take place, a true freedom feeling like no other.

It is important to remember that everything unresolved will be carried forward. If the Soul is not successful in getting all the way under the repeating theme, which will require the individual to EMOTIONALLY work all the way through this dynamic, it will be carried into the next, which is why it can take lifetimes to work through.

As it relates to the example that Rad shared here with Venus in the 7th square the Nodes, South Node in the 4th and North Node in the 10th, this Soul will continue to pull in relationships where they are forever feeling thrown back upon themselves, also in cases where they may feel they are giving more than they are getting, and that painful feeling of 'expectations not met' presents let down after let down. This Soul has set this up so they are forced to inwardly mature, to establish their own inner sense of security versus feeling as if thy need to be filled up by another, leaning too heavily on parents or partners for sustenance, comfort, and support.

The very nature of the type of Soul this person will be attracting will force this theme to repeat BECAUSE of the very energy of NEED that the Soul is emanating. The Soul has no choice but to look TO and lean ON themselves. In time, through repeated experiences along these lines, the inner growth can occur as the Soul creates a new groove for itself, the Soul turns IN for strength versus looking OUTside of themselves for someone to complete them or to fix a feeling.

The true marker of knowing that growth has been gained in this case is for the Soul to carry an energy that says, "I do not need you to feel happy or whole, I am whole unto myself, I am here because I want to be, not out of need." At this point, the types of relationships this Soul would then be pulling in will be rooted far more in equality, because of the inner balance that has been established. While the balance does not occur over night, so too will this Soul be experiencing a progression of evolution in terms of the nature of the relationships that they call in.

If that same old theme stops repeating, the Soul will know it is well on its way.

The next step in our understanding of skipped steps is to examine the planetary rulers, by house, sign, and aspects, of both the South and North Nodes. The location of these planetary rulers correlate to the dynamics that the Soul has created that have lead too the skip steps that are symbolized in the house and sign location of the Lunar Nodes themselves.

In our simple example we had the South and North Nodes in the 4th and 10th house, and they were square Venus in the 7th House. We can now example dynamics that have lead to those skipped steps by putting the South Node ruler in the 11th House, and the North Node ruler in the 8th House.

Dynamics in the 11th House that could have lead to the skipped steps could, for example, be various circumstances that the Soul has created to enforce the underlying Soul intention of learning the 4th House evolutionary lesson of to be secure from within itself, and to minimize external dependencies. Such circumstances could be various types of traumas: 11th House. Such traumas could be being born through a mother or father in which one or both desired to have a baby of the opposite gender that the Soul actually chose to be born into. The initial imprinting for the baby upon birth is one of rejection. Another example could be being  born into parents, by the Soul's choice, in which the parents we in some kind of trauma within their own relationship that then caused the Soul be to dislocated from the parents of birth. This dislocation could be being given to one of the child's set of grandparents for example. Another could be being simply given a way to anyone who wanted to raise the child. This could include children's homes. Yet another example is one or both parents having emotionally and psychological reactions to the Soul at birth that were defined by their feeling that the child was so 'different' from them that they could not bond with the child. Within this could be that fact that the mother got pregnant by another man and did not tell her husband, or the subsequent child about this fact.

In these simple examples we can see the dynamics that operate as causes, causative factors, manifesting through the 4th House that have lead to the emotional skipped steps that can then be projected upon the partners in the 7th House Venus.

With the planetary ruler of the N.Node being in the 8th House the Soul has thus felt abandoned, that it's need to create trust with others has been violated, that the core love and acceptance that ANY CHILD NATURALLY EXPECTS FROM THEIR BIOLOGICAL PARENTS has been arrested. As the Soul grows older these arrested emotions, the natural emotions of needing to feel love and acceptance, becomes intensified with the Soul structure itself.  Combined with the planetary ruler of the S.Node in the 11th these displaced emotions, the psychology of them, become projected upon and through the 7th House Venus leading the the skipped steps in our example. The Soul through these displaced emotions rooted in some kind of trauma could then become extremely, 7th house Venus, psychologically demanding, manipulative, and explosive towards others in general, and their intimate others specifically.

This understanding can be applied to all charts in which you see the signature of skipped steps, and your won chart if you have them in your birth chart.

In the context of intimate relationships, could this also lead to a person who, when sensing the other is withdrawing or not engaging fully in the relationship, will suddenly bail out of that relationship in order to feel that they have some element of control, to pre-emt being left, so they won't feel abandoned again?

So we will now continue on with our understanding of skipped steps as they apply between two people: the synastry chart.

To understand synastry charts between two people it is essential to have a deep understanding of each individual, and the dynamics within them that are the determinants of the realities they have been creating. We have been making a very simple example in this thread of the skipped step signature as above: the South Node in the 4th, it's planetary ruler in the 11th, the N.Node in the 10th, and it's planetary ruler in the 8th House. And those Nodes are square the Venus in the 7th.

So now let's place that signature in anothers chart, and example, very simply, how the skipped steps of that individual has affected and impacted on that other person that has then caused skipped steps between those two people. Let's remember that the synastry charts between two people correlate with how the individual dynamics within each person INTERACT TOGETHER in whatever the nature is of the relationship between those two people.

So let's place the skipped step signature we have been exampling by putting the S.Node in the others 5th House, the N.Node in the 11th, and the Venus in the 8th House. The 5th House, as an archetype, is how any of us go about creatively actualizing our underlying sense of purpose for the life that we are living. Of itself it correlates to how Souls become full of themselves, so to speak. In so doing it correlates to a necessary self centerdness,  a need within the Soul to be in charge of it's own life: destiny. In this way, the Soul also needs the support and feedback of others that serve as guideposts that allow the Soul to keep actualizing it's ongoing sense of purpose and meaning for it's life.

By placing the S.Node of the person's whom we have been exampling in this others 5th House, the 5th House person would be taking in this person as a wounded child emotionally who required a tremendous amount of energy and attention because of the emotional and psychological demands that have occurred because of the existing skipped steps within that person. This other person may in fact do all that it can to give to that person all that they can to help them creatively actualize their own sense of being, their sense of purpose, to give them what they need. Yet because of the unresolved skipped steps that giving would never be enough from point of view of the one with the displaced emotions from their childhood.

The emotional and psychological demands would be like a bottomless pit from the point of view of this other person. With the S.Node of the skipped step person being in the other person's 5th House the skipped step person would expect TO BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION ALL THE TIME: to be the center of the universe for the 5th house person. Necessarily, because of the nature of the 5th House, this other person would cyclically withdraw all the giving it has been doing on behalf of the skipped step person.

When that would happen the skipped step person would then feel traumatized: the N.Node in the 11th House of this other person. That nature of those kinds of cyclic traumas of not being given too in the way that the skipped steps person was demanding and expecting, the Venus squaring the Nodes and being in the other persons 8th House, could have caused them to form relationships with the other persons friends: the N.Node in the 11th. In essence the original displaced emotions for the childhood of the skipped step person become intensified when the other person cyclically withdraws, and then becomes projected on the others friends: the displaced emotional needs expecting them to meet those needs because of the bottomless pit of those displaced needs.

With the Venus in the others 8th House it would have been very possible, likely, that the skipped step person would then sexualize, secretly, some of those relationships formed with the others friends.  

Of course when the other person would learn of these secret relationships this would have caused tremendous confrontations with the skipped step person as well as those 'friends' that could have led to ending the relationships outright. Thus, skipped steps have been created between this other person and the skipped step person that we have been exampling, not to mention some of those 'friends' that the other person had had in other lifetimes.

Yet, because of the other person relative to their own 5th house, would also expect and need to receive the necessary emotional and psychological attention, support, and caring that they had been giving to the skipped step person. With the skipped step person, because of the displaced emotions from their childhood, expecting to receive all the support, attention, and 'love' all the time this of course created an very imbalanced dynamic between them. The other person then could have also sought out other relationships in order to receive what they also needed. Those other relationships could have been the friends of the skipped step person and/or the friends of the other person itself. In this way the other person may have sexualized one or more of those relationships just as the skipped step person had: secretly.

Thus, the confrontations that would occur, the psychological and emotional explosions that would result in the termination of the relationship between the other person and the skipped step person also lead to the skipped steps between the.

Because of those existing skipped steps between that other person and the skipped step person that we have been exampling they would pick up their relationship where it had been left off in the most previous past life.

When we continue we will pick this up: how to resolve those skipped steps relative to the signature that we have been exampling.

i find it very helpful to re-read the posts for a while until some word or expression finally "unblocks" the meaning of it, so i have some questions also about the earlier steps, hope that is ok.

So, in the example you gave would it be any different if the north node was the last making the conjunction? In that case could we say that, for instance, there was an abuse of authority or social position and power over others in which the soul had a relationship, maybe friends, all based on issues to resolve over self-reliance, emotional security? I'm trying to understand how to make the right approach/interconnection on the NN, SN and Skipped Step as a whole as they now seem much more as dynamic issue than previous to this thread.

Also Rad, in synastry, i would like to ask your opinion and EA perspective on the specific condition were person A has planets square the nodes of person B but also are making an opposition to person B skipped step planet, creating a grand cross. From one perspective, these planets are on the "polarity point" of the skipped planet, so would that be a consideration, meaning resolution, or just developmental stressing the planet?
And if person A planets are the sun and other planet there is an element repeating from the past and a new situation (sun) emerging in the present?

Yes because, first, that would mean that the Venus would be in the 1st house, not the 7th. And that the N.Node would be serving as the vehicle to integrate what the skipped steps have been about.

That would certainly be a possibility within the symbolism starting with the N.Node in the 10th House. With the S.Node in the 4th, Venus in the 1st, the typical dynamics/ archetypes involving the skipped steps would correlate to a Soul who had been desiring to access their emotional bodies, emotions, and pure emotions versus the existing repression/ suppression of those emotions that the Soul has been doing in order to control itself: and thus others with the Venus square to the Nodes. The Soul's sense of emotional / psychological security would be rooted in the need to control itself, and others which has created psychological and emotional frustration and anger not only within the Soul itself, but others that it had formed relationships too of various duration's in time. Thus, the skipped steps within itself, and the relationships it had formed with others, are caused because of this. There is much more of course but this will give you and example of the difference that you are asking about.

It would correlate to dynamics that have caused both person A and B to oppose, block, the necessity of resolving whatever the skipped steps have been about: to oppose the resolution after efforts have been made to resolve. Within this that those planets of person A opposing person's B's planet that is forming the square to it's Nodes are dynamics that directly correlate to what the skipped steps have been between them.

Thank you for taking the patience to point out the issues with such simplicity and objectivity, as i guess a natal mercury in pisces really appreciates...

Also Rad, in the synastry case (and your observation is very truthful and spot on in the existing reality) why is it, i mean the evolutionary intention to create such a situation, that when both contribute to blocking and resolution, only one person (B) as the natal signature of skipped steps and the charts of neither person A or composite between the two have planets square the nodes?
Not wanting to go to far here because it's next in the thread.. But what points to the resolution in the synastry chart? Or is it up to person B to deal with the resolution of it's own skipped steps by its own, and that by itself is the possible resolution?

Person B is the one who has the specific signature of skipped steps: not person A if that person does not have the skipped steps signature in their chart. Thus, the skipped steps of person B are their own: not person A's. The skipped steps of person B would be rooted in all the dynamics symbolized that go beyond person A. Person A then simply becomes a reflection of what those skipped steps are rooted in the Soul of person B. The fact that person A is contributing to the blocking or resolving of the skipped steps of person B is simply a symbol of what person B has been doing within their own Soul. In essence person A is an 'outpicturing' of that resistance that has been taking place within person B.

Yes, it is entirely up to person B to resolve within their own Soul the dynamics that have caused the skipped steps: thus the resolution. As in any relationship between two people there are of course other issues and dynamics that are taking place that are themselves determinants of why they are in a relationship of any kind in the first place.
